America’s Best RV-Touring Roads

Getting there is half the fun (or all of it!) when you take the scenic route. These five beautiful drives are your calling your name!
America’s Best RV-Touring Roads
From weekend getaways to once-in-a-lifetime journeys, scenic RV road trips make getting there one of the best parts of your RV rental adventure. Test drive one of these car-touring roads to catch some of the best views America has to offer.

Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia and the Carolinas

Take a drive through the Appalachian Mountains with stunning views from the spine of the rocky range. Though beautiful during any season, we recommend seeing this car-touring road during the autumn months to witness the changing foliage colors. And for the outdoor adventurer, you can explore the Shenandoah National Park or Great Smoky Mountains National Park as you pass through. This parkway has also become a popular destination for bird watchers, as more than 50 different species can be spotted throughout the course of your trip. It’s no wonder this is dubbed America’s favorite drive

Highway 101, Oregon

Consider this RV-touring road the Oregon extension of the Pacific Coast Highway. With 300 miles of unobstructed coastal views, RVers can experience the beautiful contrast between the state’s rolling farmlands and jagged sea cliffs. Some tourist must-sees along the way include the Tillamook Creamery and the historical town of Astoria, where movies like “The Goonies” were filmed.

Bluebonnet Trail, Texas

When it comes to Texas, they know how to go big. That’s why it’s no surprise that their state flower – the bluebonnet – can be seen in seemingly endless supply in fields throughout the state. Stretching from Austin to Houston, the Bluebonnet Trail is one of the best car-touring roads, perfect for a weekend trip exploring some of Texas’ most popular cities. If you want to see the flowers in all their Texan glory, plan your trip sometime during peak blooming season from March to May.

89A, Arizona

We couldn’t leave the best car-touring road from our home state off the list! Starting in the Greater Phoenix area with a Cruise America RV rental in Mesa, travelers can watch the landscape transform from a cacti-filled desert into lush forest terrain as they head towards Flagstaff. Check out the healing vortexes and stunning red rocks of Sedona on the way – it’s the true showstopper of this drive. The road winds around, so a smaller RV unit, like a truck camper, may be more enjoyable for this route.

Highway 1, Alaska

This scenic highway runs right through Anchorage, making it convenient for out-of-town travelers flying into the state’s largest city to get their RV rental in Anchorage. Running from Homer to Anchorage to Tok, this drive is so pretty, you will probably find your jaw literally dropping on occasion as you take it all in. RVers can expect to see snow-capped mountains, icy glaciers and plenty of coastal views. This highway also takes you near popular destinations like Denali State Park, if you have the time to veer off course and do some exploring on foot.
