In contrast, others think the best time to visit Boysen State Park is when there are smaller crowds and milder temperatures. Winter

If you visit in winter (December to February), you can expect average high temperatures at or around the 30s and often lows in the single digits. Given the weather extremes, winter may not be the best time to go out on the water, but it is the ideal time at Boysen State Park for ice fishing! Spring

Reservation Season at Boysen State Park is from May 1 to September 30, meaning that due to demand, RV campgrounds in Boysen State Park require reservations during this time. 

So, if your vacation schedule permits, try to book Boysen State Park RV sites off-season, either from January 1 to April 30 or October 1 to December 31. This can be done by simply going to Boysen State Park and seeing for yourself what campgrounds are available; remember, you cannot reserve a campground ahead of time from Jan 1 to April 30 or Oct 1 to Dec 31 campgrounds are walk-up only during this time. 

Also, when RV camping in Boysen State Park, bear in mind that many other people want to enjoy the area too. Try to be an environmentally conscious camper. Follow the campground rules, especially those concerning the use of glass bottles, fireworks restrictions, and the use of park dumpsters, and the disposal of litter and trash.
